New Shoes
I just got a new pair of shoes. I'm 32 years old. The shoes that I got mean a lot to me. I can pay for them, and have been able to for a long time. But I never bought them. They are leather - laughing with love in the face of my long standing pleather. I used to say if a nuke were to hit, I could hide inside those shoes (the plastic replicas) and I wouldbesafeforever. Pink Floyd agreed with me. As did James. I now sit with them on my feet and smile. I'm better for the time I made myself wait to buy em. It's odd what we appreciate when we pay attention.

Oh for the love of all that is good in the world. I am laughing so hard I have cried more times than I should at this time of night.

Tweets
I find it incredibly funny that although I have a degree in English, and always thought that my living would come from writing, I find it much easier to write a 140 character post on twitter - or - just respond to other folks. I think that means I need to focus.

I lost my job in February. I had been there for 9 years and got a pretty severance package. So I'm still getting a check, however I was in sales before so the check doesn't necessarily encompass the earnings that could have been.
I got my first unemployment check today (gotta love Texas - severance and unemployment at the same time). I questioned the amount because I knew that I was due a certain amount each week and the numbers were not computing. So I pulled up the 'easily accessible' website and had to change my password for the 9th time because the fucks apparently can't see their way to saving it properly even after I have entered my 'security question' which is my maiden name and I'm more than positive I know EXACTLY HOW TO SPELL IT but they disagree - again.
So for the first two weeks, I got one amount, and the next two weeks it was $25 more. I thought maybe they figured out that I deserved the extra 'pretty' tax - but nope. That wasn't it.
I am a conservative pretty much through and through. I have my diversions but I remain relatively right wing on a regular basis. All of the stimulus package talk made me weirdy feeling. I worked for my money, I spent my money - yahoo economy.
Imagine my surprise when I opened up my first unemployment money giving piece of mail and realized that I got $50 more than I should!! I am an honest individual so I went to the unemployment site and looked up my payment status. Because it had taken so long for those folks to figure out that I actually WAS laid off and DO qualify for benefits, I was pretty familiar with the site. My payment details indicated that for the last 2 weeks, I was given an extra bit of money - FROM THE STIMULUS PACKAGE.
I got $50 bucks of my own money back. Without even having to ask for it. I consider this a colossal win. I'm wondering though, should I give it to charity because I don't actually need the money or go buy a new shirt with the cash that I originally made?

Mr. President
I have to say. I was not originally pleased hearing that our President of the United States of America was going to be on the Leno show. He has many other things that more become the Office of the PUSA that are larger and more important than the Leno show.
However, I was pleasantly surprised this evening. He was witty, aggresive and becoming. Enjoyable even.
I particularly liked his quip about the dog that is not there yet - 'that was a campaign promise...' - good for you Mr. President Obama Sir. Well played.
(Also - I REALLY LIKE GARTH BROOKS)
